In late 2019, I began experiencing severe digestive issues that upended my life. What started with intense abdominal pain led to months of worsening symptoms including diarrhoea, nausea, and sensitivity to even small amounts of foods like milk and corn. I was eventually diagnosed with IBS and put on medication, but I felt hopeless, assuming this would be my new normal. By 2020, the combination of the pandemic and my worsening gut health left me feeling both physically and emotionally drained.
In early 2021, I discovered Dr Megan Rossi’s book through an endorsement by Jamie Oliver. Sceptical but desperate, I decided to try her realistic, science-backed approach to gut health, which focused on adding diversity to my diet rather than unnecessary restrictions. I joined her 30-day plant point challenge, stocked up on fresh ingredients, and committed to her advice. Within two weeks, I noticed a remarkable improvement, and by the end of the challenge, I felt like myself again. I was even able to stop my medication early on.
For over three years now, I’ve been able to eat whatever I want as long as I maintain a plant-rich diet with 30 different plants a week. My gut health continues to positively impact every aspect of my life, from energy levels to overall quality of life. I’m so thankful to Dr Rossi and her team for busting myths and promoting evidence-based advice that has completely transformed my health. I’m a proud convert to plant-rich eating!
